Millionaire Billionaire Zilionaire

21-year-old Alex Tew a UK student who needed money for his education created this very cool idea: sell pixels on a site and charge 1$ per pixel. He started his site on 26 august of this year and with a million pixels available, he already sold : 683,400$ !! worth of pixels until today, more than enough to pay for his education. Read more about how he did it here. On his site you can find an ad from "the rich jerk" who claims to do even better on his hilarious site, he sells you a 49$ ebook with tips and tricks! Then you have this guy from Germany who flaunts his richness in a very cool way.. and of course there are plenty of copycats who adopted Alex Tew's idea, all of them fairly empty..heck there's even a software package out, that let's you create your own million dollar pixel site...duh! Alternatively you can sign up for one minute millionaire meetups. or take a look at this blog.

  • It goes to show you that you don't need a lot of money to make a lot of money. Just one stupid idea. I.e. advertising on your forhead on Ebay, Virgin Mary Gril Cheese. The next stupid idea I come up with I am going to run with. Peace!!

  • True, but I think it's a very original idea, executed very well! It's all in the execution. Good luck anonymous!

  • My hat goes off to Alex Tew, he certainly found a unique idea to sell ad space. I actually took his idea one step further... selling ad space by the BYTE! There are so many "pixel pushers" out there now that I needed to put a spin on the pixel advertising concept. Check out

Press release - helps Great Ormond Street Hospital

Alan Wheeler an entrepreneur from Heathfrield, near Newton Abbot has just launched a new webite called which gives people the chance to own a piece of internet realestate at $1(60p)
    per pixel.

Alan's site which is already generating traffic from around the World allows people to buy what
    he calls internet real-estate.

"Selling advertising space based on pixels is really grabbing peoples imagination" say's Alan.

Once you have purchased blocks of pixels they are linked to your website. When you visit
Alan's site you click the coloured pixels and this takes you to the advertisers website.

Alan's site consists of 1,000,000 pixels or 10,000 blocks of 100 pixels. You can buy as little as
a 100 pixels or as many as you like.

But the concept doesn't stop there. Alan say's in time "people will start trading these little chunks
of internet real-estate or even sub-letting them as their traffic generating potential grows".

Alan also hopes to auction off his last 1,000 pixels for charity later in the year and he has chosen
Great Ormond Street's Children's Hospital in London.

"Ebay or Sotheby's could be a possible venue".

  • Amazing, this concept, my compliments to Alex Tew. It shows how fast an original idea can be spread. If one starts writing, more will do.
However, Tew's idea was not very romantic. Now there is a pixel site that honours every great woman. Nice idea for Valentine's Day.
